Two young Russians, brother and sister, were seriously injured after their motorbike was hit by tour bus in Chonburi.
Accident happend on 23 February about 3 p.m. on Sukhumwit Road in Sattahip. 16-year old Danila Mokshantsev and his 12-year old sister Katya crossed the intersection when were hit by tour bus (Bangkok registration number 33-0735) heading to Pattaya. Witnesses of the accident rushed to help injured Russians and covered them by umbrella and clothes to protect from sun and wind.
After arriving to the scent officers from Na Jomtien Police Station and rescuers saw Danila and Katya lying unconscious on the pavement. Danila’s left leg was injured, his sister had bruises on the body and a head wound. Damaged red motorbike Honda PCX-150 was found in front of the bus. As we can say by photos from the scene, young Russians had motorcycle helmets and made a turn on green light. Friends of Danila said he has driver license.
55-year old bus driver Rose Bothaisong awaited police on the scene. He said that he returned from Nong Nooch Tropical garden tour with Chinese tourists on board. When the bus was close to intersection Rose saw green light. Unexpectedly for him, the light switched to yellow and red. He tried to put on the brakes but failed and hit motorbike with young Russians. However, as eyewitnesses said, bus driver headed full speed to the intersection on the red light.
Bus driver was detained and charged with reckless driving resulting heavy injuries. Police are awaiting the improvment in young Russians’ state of health to question them about the details of the accident.
For now both Danila and Katya remain in hospital in coma with closed traumatic brain injuries. Their friends write in Facebook comments that brother and sister are on the mend. Their father’s friends are trying to raise money for paying hospital bills for Danila and Katya and their future rehabilitation and are looking for lawyer’s and interpreter’s help to deal with insurance company and to bring the bus driver to justice.
